Cape Herb & Spice: A vibrant blend of cultures and flavours – from the tip of Africa to the tip of the tongue!
Founded in 1994, Cape Herb & Spice is based in Cape Town, a vibrant and cosmopolitan city situated at the tip of Africa. Their location is significantly situated along the West-African trade route explored by sailors in the 1400’s. The Dutch East India Company, a dominant force in the spice trade, went on to establish a settlement in Cape Town in the mid 1600’s, which acted as a midway point for their exchange with Asia. This mix of European, African and Asian cultures has given the city a rich culinary heritage, and it's against this background that the Cape Herb & Spice company was formed.
How to Use:
Generously season a nicely oiled cut of steak about 30 minutes prior to cooking. The sprinkle insert allows cooks to lightly dust the rubs onto their food without physically having to rub them in. Keep your seasoning close and top up on flavour during the cooking process.
Poultry and seafood taste just as good when prepared in this way…a classic blend of sweet and spicy steakhouse flavour notes.
Hillcrest Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil – produced on the farm by hand; from harvesting to bottling.
Hillcrest Estate is a boutique winery, nestled in the Tygerberg Hills on the outskirts of Durbanville
Hillcrest extra virgin olive oil is made of handpicked olives processed within 24 hours after picking, filtered and stored under a nitrogen blanket in stainless steel tanks at 18°C. Oil is kept in bulk tanks and only bottled when required.
The olive grove, planted on western slopes, comprises 2000 trees of oil and fruit varietals. Their unique position at 300 meters above sea level imparts a specific rich, tangy taste to the olives and a distinctive peppery aftertaste to the extra virgin olive oil.
Hillcrest oil is made up from a blend of mission and frantoio olives picked at different ripeness. Hillcrest olive oil has a medium to delicate fruity flavours and a slight bitter to sweet taste with a peppery sensation. These all contribute to excellent oil.
Hillcrest olive oil compliments fish, bruschetta, salads etc.
